A Maldives honeymoon works because of how the islands are made: one resort on one island, villas set apart on the beach or out over the lagoon, and nothing to do except what the two of you choose. The honeymoon resorts on this page cover the choices that matter most: a short boat ride or a seaplane flight, all-inclusive or not.
The Maldives is warm all year, usually between 28 and 31°C. The driest and calmest months are roughly December to April, which is also when rates are highest. From May to November there is more rain and wind, usually in short bursts, with better rates and quieter islands.
Seven to ten nights is a comfortable length once you allow for the journey. Many couples split the stay between two resorts: a few nights near Malé at the start or end, and the rest on an island further out.
Most resorts welcome newlyweds with something extra, from a bottle of wine in the villa to a dinner on the beach. They usually ask for proof of marriage, often a certificate dated within the last year, so bring a copy. Tell us you are on honeymoon when you enquire and we will make sure it is arranged.
FAQ
December to April has the driest and calmest weather, and it is the busiest and most expensive time. May to November brings more rain, usually in short showers, with better rates. It is warm all year, so any month can work.
Seven to ten nights is comfortable. With fewer than five, choose a resort close to Malé so less of your time goes on transfers.
Speedboat resorts near Malé, such as Sheraton Full Moon (15 minutes) and Hilton Amingiri (20 minutes), are quick to reach at any hour. Seaplane resorts are further out and often quieter, but seaplanes fly only in daylight, so your flight times matter.
Often, yes. Everything on a resort island is brought in by boat, so meals and drinks cost more than at home. An all-inclusive plan, such as JA Manafaru's, makes the budget predictable and lets you order without thinking about the bill.
Many do, and they change through the year. The live ones are listed above. Tell us your dates and we will check what each resort can add for you.
